From February 8 to 13, the winners of the VI Winter Spartakiad among men in ice hockey were determined in Ust-Kamenogorsk, the official website of the capital's akimat reports.
In the five-day competition, the team from the East Kazakhstan region (4 wins) won the gold medal. Astana hockey players won the silver medal of the Spartakiad with 3 wins and 1 loss, while Almaty (2 wins and 2 losses) rounded out the top three.
The hockey players of East Kazakhstan and Astana met again in the decisive games of 2013, 2017, and 2025. In the final match, the capital's players scored two quick goals and were ahead for some time. However, with the enthusiastic support of the fans, the hosts took the lead in the second period and won 6:2.
In total, 97 hockey players from Astana, Almaty, Karaganda, North Kazakhstan and East Kazakhstan regions competed in the tournament.
