Today, on behalf of the Head of State, construction has begun on a new building of the Republican specialized Boarding School for gifted children named after Abai with in-depth study of the Kazakh language and literature.
The ceremony of laying the capsule at the construction site of the school was attended by Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbayev, Minister of Education Gani Beisembayev, the leadership of the Akimat of Almaty, holders of the title "Kazakhstan Enbek Yeri" A.Mirazova, G.Nurpeisova, A.Zhumadildaev, deputies of Parliament and maslikhat, intellectuals and teachers – veterans of pedagogical labor.
Senate Speaker Maulen Ashimbayev stressed in his speech that the construction of a new building named after Abai is a contribution to the formation of a national brand of secondary education and is necessary to strengthen national interests and preserve the continuity of traditions.
In 2020, at a meeting with Abai scholars, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed to modernize the republican boarding school named after Abai in accordance with modern educational requirements and make it an exemplary educational institution, developing humanities, including teaching the Kazakh language and literature.
Currently, the concept of transformation of the Republican boarding School into the "National School of Abai" is being developed. At the initiative of the President, the country is also developing a network of schools and boarding schools named after Abai with in-depth study of the humanities.
Speaking at the solemn event, Minister of Education Gani Beisembayev noted that in the future the National School of Abai will become an exemplary educational institution for all Kazakhstani schools.
"The Head of State instructed to instill in children respect for their native language and literature from school age, to develop common approaches. The development of a single program "ABAY-Program" has begun. By transforming the republican school of Abai, we focus not only on the in-depth study of language and literature, this is, first of all, an important step towards the formation of the intellectual potential of our country. The National School of Abai is designed to become a hotbed of education for competitive youth in the modern educational space. It will contribute to the formation of a new generation of patriots in accordance with the concept of the Head of State "Adal Azamat" and the philosophy of Abai "Tolyk Adam"," the minister said.
The new construction facility is designed for 900 student places. Its infrastructure includes a boarding school, a teacher's house, a library, the ABAY-arena sports complex, a greenhouse and other facilities. The facility is expected to be commissioned in September 2025.
