KAZAKHSTAN IS READY TO BECOME A CENTER OF WHO BEST PRACTICES IN THE ELIMINATION OF TUBERCULOSIS

Kazakh Minister of Health Akmaral Alnazarova held a meeting with Robb Butler, Director of the WHO Division for Infectious Diseases, Environment and Health.
The parties discussed the opening of the WHO Best Practices Center for the Elimination of the Tuberculosis Epidemic in Kazakhstan.
The country is showing remarkable progress in the fight against tuberculosis, showing high commitment to the recommendations and global goals of the WHO European Office. Morbidity and mortality rates are decreasing, which is due to the introduction of the best standards for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of this infection.
The Head of the Department expressed confidence that Kazakhstan will become the best platform for the opening of the Center, contributing to further strengthening the resolve to eliminate tuberculosis, exchange of experience between countries, dialogue and coordination of activities not only in Central Asia, but also in the WHO European region.
The agenda of the meeting also included the second Forum of Partners for Health, which is taking place in Astana today, "Environmental protection problems and possible solutions through the interaction of humans, animals and the environment" with the participation of representatives of WHO, the UN, and the EU.
Noting Kazakhstan's achievements in key areas of healthcare, Mr. Robb Butler expressed his willingness to support country initiatives to address environmental problems in the Aral Sea region, which have an impact on public health indicators.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to strengthen cooperation and develop strategic approaches in order to reduce the negative effects of environmental factors on the health and well-being of citizens. They also found understanding and support in strengthening infection prevention through immunization.
