CarIU celebrated its 80th anniversary
the first smelting of Kazakh steel
The 80th anniversary of the first steel smelting in Kazakhstan is an event of historical importance not only for the city of Temirtau, but also for the whole country. On the eve of this date, a thematic round table was held at Karaganda Industrial University. The event was attended by veterans and employees of JSC "Qarmet", as well as students of the field of Metallurgy.
It was from the Temirtau plant that Kazakhstan's metallurgy began. Rector of KarIU Bakhyt Zhautikov noted: "When the construction of the plant picked up pace, there was a need for engineering personnel, which led to the opening of an independent university in Temirtau. For 60 years, the university has been training qualified personnel for local industry, which has become possible thanks to close cooperation with enterprises."
Veterans Yermek Tulebaev, Vladimir Laukart and Abu Amenov shared their memories of their career and wished the students success. The students asked the guests their questions, and the meeting ended with a tour of the CarIU laboratories and research centers.
