Kazakhstan strengthens international cooperation in the field of sustainable tourism

A meeting on expanding climate measures in tourism was held in Baku (Azerbaijan) within the framework of the SOR29 conference, where Kazakhstan presented its achievements and plans in the field of sustainable tourism.
The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Yerkinbayev, Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization Zurab Pololikashvili, Chairman of the State Tourism Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan Fuad Nagiyev, as well as representatives of more than 20 countries and international organizations.
"Kazakhstan has unique natural ecosystems that are protected as part of national parks and reserves. Our task is to ensure economic development without harming the environment. We continue to implement "Green Standards" for tourism, which will reduce the carbon footprint and encourage environmentally responsible practices," Yerzhan Yerkinbayev said.
During the meeting, key aspects of the Baku Declaration aimed at strengthening climate action in the tourism sector were discussed. Kazakhstan expressed support for all initiatives aimed at reducing the impact of tourism on the climate and promoting sustainable practices in the international arena.
In addition, during the discussion, Yerkinbayev highlighted the country's successes in the field of eco-tourism, including the victory of the village of Saty in the Best Tourism Villages competition and the achievement in the "Prosperous Communities" nomination at the ITB Berlin international exhibition.
