The head of the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan Almasadam Satkaliyev made a report during the government hour on Monday in the Majilis of the parliament.
From the report:
"Due to the expected shortage of light petroleum products in 2036, it is required to start designing a new refinery with a capacity of 10 million tons/year, but no later than 2030 and construction in 2032.
Then, in 2030 – 2036, the demand for an additional 2 million tons/year of diesel fuel increases, which will lead to a deficit of 0.2 million tons, increasing annually by 0.3-0.35 million tons until 2050.
In the period 2028-2030, it is necessary to constantly update production-consumption balances due to possible imports of fuels and lubricants in 2036-2040.
The construction of the new refinery will cover the country's fuel needs from 2040 to 2050 and will allow exporting fuels and lubricants to the rapidly developing markets of Central, South and Southwest Asia."
