A press conference with members of the jury of the international competition of the XVII International Film Festival "Eurasia" was held in Almaty today. At the meeting, the speakers shared their vision of the significance of the festival, expectations from competitive films and the role of cinema in the modern world.
The chairman of the jury of the international competition of the Eurasia Film Festival, the famous director Nuri Bilge Ceylan, noted that modern cinema requires a new approach.
"In fact, in traditional cinema, all the themes are of the same type. And in order to dive into a deeper meaning and reach a subtle note in every person's life, you need to create new meanings. The films that will be shown at the festival can open up a completely different world of cinema for you," said the chairman of the jury of the International Competition.
These words fully reflect the essence of the International Competition of the festival, where 13 films are presented. The participants' works cover a wide range of topics – from social dramas to philosophical reflections.
A member of the jury of the international competition, actress Rano Shodieva emphasized the unique atmosphere of the festival, which provides an opportunity to enjoy deep and beautiful films.
"I would like to plunge into a good, clean, new, beautiful movie. And we have a whole week to do it. We will choose the best movie from the best," she said.
The films presented in the International Competition illustrate not only cultural diversity, but also a high artistic level. For example, the painting "To a Land Unknown" tells the story of Palestinian refugees, and the film "Nirvana" tells the stories of three hidden souls striving for light.
Director Artykpai Suyundukov called for attention to bold experiments and deep themes.
"I wish the Eurasia Festival to be useful for Kazakhstani viewers and future directors. I would like the festival to focus on experiments, the search for a film language, the exploration of deep themes and the inner world of man, something that we really won't see in an ordinary cinema."
At the festival, viewers will be able to see films that explore traditions, female identity, social conflicts and spiritual reflection.
Jury member, film critic Nada Azhari Gillon stressed the importance of such events for international cultural exchange: "Festivals are important for both people and creators. A film festival is a great way to get to know another culture, another country and other people. Learn more about them."
The press conference was not only the start of a rich competition program, but also an inspiring start for the audience. They will be able to discover the magic of modern cinema.
