Representatives of several generations cooked kimchi side by side. To prepare a national dish, representatives of the ethnocultural association of Koreans of the Karaganda region bought 170 kilograms of cabbage.
This year, the Kimchi project has been organized for the seventh time, and for the first time it took place in 2017.
– The goal is to preserve traditions and pass them on from the older generation to the younger. Kimchi Day always takes place in an entertaining, family-friendly format. We are preparing this dish for a reason: it is included in the UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage," says Lilia Kim, chairman of the ethnocultural association of Koreans.
This year, for the first time, the event was fully organized by young people. The finished kimchi was placed in serving containers and treated to friends and acquaintances. The design of labels for containers was also developed by young members of the ethnocultural association.
– One of the rules is to treat everyone. This year we treated the members of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan. They already know about our holiday and are waiting for it. Friends, colleagues, and members of our business circle were also treated," Lilia Kim said.
Kimchi Day is planned to continue, because its main goals – the transfer of experience and interaction between generations – are always relevant.
