The loan agreement between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank was signed on August 21, 2024.
The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank provides a loan in the amount of about 52.7 billion. Japanese yen on preferential terms, with a maturity of 15 years, including a 3-year grace period.
The choice of currency in Japanese yen is due to historically low base interest rates in Japan, as well as a close correlation between the Kazakhstani tenge and the Japanese yen.
Servicing and repayment of the attracted loan will be carried out by the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan at the expense of funds provided for in the republican budget for the next financial year in accordance with the financial terms of the Agreement.
These funds will help support the Government's priority measures, including financing transport infrastructure, industry, education and other priority areas.
