Water-saving technologies have been introduced in the Turkestan region on 50 thousand hectares. Three enterprises for their production have been established. This was announced by Governor of Turkestan region Darkhan Satybaldy during the report on the socio-economic development of the region at the site of the Central Communications Service.
"The main feature of our region is that 80 percent of the population lives in rural areas. Therefore, agriculture is the most important industry. We are currently working on issues of agricultural diversification, the widespread introduction of water-saving technologies, and deep processing of livestock and crop products. As you know, there is an annual shortage of irrigation water in the country. 70 percent of the water needed by the Turkestan region comes from a neighboring state. Therefore, we give priority to the cultivation of new crops and varieties using modern water-saving technologies. We plan to introduce water-saving technologies on 216.3 thousand hectares and increase the share of irrigated land to 40 percent. This year, such technologies have been implemented on 50 thousand hectares. To ensure the availability of water-saving technologies, we have opened three enterprises for their production with a total cost of 11.7 billion tenge," the mayor said.
The volume of agricultural production reached 958 billion tenge, an increase of 105.8%. In terms of agricultural production, the region occupies a leading position in the republic.
In order to provide the market with domestic products, it is planned to implement 105 projects (2024-2027) worth 507 billion tenge. Thus, more than eight thousand (8,346) jobs will be created.
A plant for the production of 1000 sprinkler machines per year of BNK Group LTD worth 7 billion tenge was put into operation; an enterprise for the production of drip irrigation systems for 14 thousand hectares worth 4.1 billion tenge; production of drip irrigation systems for 9,000 hectares per year worth 650 million tenge subordinated to the State Enterprise Turan Su.
In addition, next year a foreign investor's project for the production of drip irrigation systems on 40 thousand hectares with a contribution of 2 billion tenge of investments will be implemented.
