During the summer months, 17 km of the storm system was cleared in Karaganda. A total of 30 km have recently been cleared of debris. By the end of December, it is planned to equip 529 meters of storm sewers. Mayor of the city Meiram Kozhukhov wrote about the preparations for the spring flood on his Instagram page.
"In another problematic area along Shakhterov Avenue – from the observation chamber in the area of house No. 36/2 – we are equipping an additional pipe to divert part of the volume of incoming meltwater. If currently meltwater entered this inspection chamber through two pipes with a diameter of 1200 kb, then there was one pipe for diversion, now we eliminate this defect – we stack the pipe from the camera, then we will make a cut–in to the Zhartas canal on Saryarka Street (the canal passes under the road, with a sufficiently large pipe diameter),"- the mayor of the city wrote in his blog.
He also spoke about the construction of a bypass ditch in the steppe behind Tattimbeta Street. In the spring, a lot of water comes from there. In order for it not to flood nearby buildings, city services equip an irrigation ditch there, which passes behind the Taugul microdistrict, it is also taken to the Zhartassky canal.
In the South-East of the city, 263 meters of a storm system are additionally being equipped on Universitetskaya Street, near houses 78/15, 78/11, 78/19.
