The airport is being reconstructed in Balkhash. Internal dismantling works are underway, the laying of external engineering networks, and two extensions are being erected.
Recall that the project consists of two stages.
The first is the reconstruction of the taxiway and apron.
The second is the overhaul of the terminal building and the construction of a special transport service building.
Side safety lanes have already been equipped, and modern lighting equipment has been installed. The construction of tanks for de-icing liquid and wastewater is nearing completion. These works should be completed by the end of the year.
The reconstruction of the airport terminal and the construction of the special transport service building are planned to be completed in 2025.
It is expected that the modernization of the airport infrastructure will create new opportunities for the development of the city and tourism. According to the plans, passenger traffic should grow three times – from 13 to 40 thousand people per year.
The need for a large-scale renovation of the airport has arisen for a long time: it was built in 1967, the last time the air harbor was repaired in 2007.
