This year marks the 60th anniversary of the opening of the Kazakh specialized Boarding School for Gifted children named after Akhmet Zhubanov.
The anniversary celebration was marked by a festive concert.
Minister of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan Aida Balayeva read out a congratulatory letter from President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in connection with the significant date.
"The music school, opened on the initiative of the outstanding son of our people Akhmet Zhubanov, has formed the tradition of educating gifted children. I express my deep gratitude to the teachers for their contribution to the preservation, development and popularization of the Kazakh musical art. I am sure that in the future the educational institution will serve for the benefit of the country, nurture talents and remain a forge of professional musical personnel," the letter of the Head of State says.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also noted that the bright performances and victories of graduates of the boarding school on the leading international stages arouse genuine pride among compatriots.
In honor of the anniversary date, a number of teachers of the school were awarded state awards.
In just 60 years, about 1,000 musicians have graduated from the boarding school.
Over 800 "zhubanovites" are laureates of international and national competitions and festivals. Currently, about 500 talents are studying at the school.
The educational institution trains professional musicians in 10 departments: "Musical and theoretical disciplines", "Violin and viola", "Cello and double bass", "Special piano", "Wind and percussion instruments", "Folk instruments", "Compulsory piano", "Choral conducting" and "Concertmaster skills".
