A new special coke production plant in the Karaganda region has successfully completed the past year. The company has reached its design capacity and produced 478 thousand tons of products, which is higher than planned.
This was announced by the Corporate Communications Service of JSC Shubarkol Komir.
"The special coke produced at the plant will significantly reduce dependence on the import of reducing agents and increase the share of Kazakhstani content in domestic ferrochrome produced by ERG," the company said in a statement.
It is emphasized that the successful launch and reaching the design capacity of the enterprise is another step towards diversifying the economy of Kazakhstan and achieving goals in the field of carbon resources processing.
The plant for the production of special coke in the Karaganda region was launched in 2023. Investments amounted to 60 billion tenge. Currently, the plant employs more than 180 people.
According to the company, the introduction of innovations based on carbon chemistry will continue. Currently, special coke, activated carbon, coal tar and oil, as well as liquid humic fertilizers are produced here. There are plans to produce coal tar and coal oil. The raw material for the production will be D-grade coal from the Shubarkol mine.
