The action plan for the Year of Working Professions has been approved in the Almaty region

In accordance with the instructions of the Head of State, the action plan for the Year of Working Professions, which will be held in 2025, has been approved in the Almaty region. This plan was developed with the aim of popularizing working professions and increasing their importance.
The official opening of the Year of Working Professions will take place on January 27, 2025 under the motto "Honest work – decent income". As part of the campaign, campaigning activities are carried out under the heading "Man of Work", dedicated to representatives of working professions.
Akim of Almaty region Marat Sultangaziev stressed the importance of this initiative: Working professions are the foundation of any economy. We are creating the necessary conditions for every resident of the region to receive a decent education and find a stable job. The implementation of the Year of Working Professions will enhance the prestige of labor professions and help meet demand in the labor market."
In order to meet the needs of enterprises, 300 people were accepted for targeted training in 2024, which is 50% more than in the previous year (200 students).
For reference: According to the results of the survey, in 2024 the region's need for labor resources amounted to 7,724 people. 1,729 vacancies have been registered on the Electronic Labor Exchange.
The most sought-after professions:
•Teachers,
•Nurses,
•Doctors,
•drivers,
•car mechanics,
•electric and gas welders, etc.
Since the beginning of 2024, employers have found 24,838 employees through the Electronic Labor Exchange. 624 people completed short-term training, of which 88 were trained in agricultural fields (14.1% of the total number).
Agricultural industry
Agriculture, forestry and fisheries employ 127,483 people, among them:
•12,312 people with higher education,
•38,147 people with secondary vocational education.
The following measures are being implemented to support employees of the agro-industrial complex:
•Subsidizing wages:
•in 2022 – for 310 jobs,
•in 2023 – for 350 jobs,
•in 2024 – for 374 jobs.
•The program "With a diploma – to the village":
Over the past three years, 74 specialists have been employed under the program.
In 2025, it is planned to train 700 people in working professions at the request of enterprises, including:
•600 people – in educational institutions,
•100 people – directly at the workplace.
320.4 million tenge has been allocated for the implementation of the program.
Development of construction specialties
Open Days are planned to enhance the prestige of the construction professions and familiarize students with the specifics of the industry. Special attention will be paid to labor dynasties that pass on knowledge and experience from generation to generation. The contribution of family traditions to the development of professional specialties will be emphasized.
Events aimed at improving professional skills will be organized throughout the year, including:
•International competition "TaiQAZAN",
•The project "TOP 100 college students in Kazakhstan",
•WorldSkills Qonaev – 2025 Championship,
•Seminars and festivals "NauryzFest" and "MamandyqFest".
Key projects
One of the key projects is to develop an atlas of new professions and equip colleges with modern equipment. 6 billion tenge has been allocated from the budget for these purposes.
In 2024, the work was implemented in four state colleges, and in 2025 it will continue in two more educational institutions.
Construction of a 1,250-bed technical college with a 600-bed dormitory will begin in the city of Konayev. A preliminary design has already been developed and design estimates are being prepared.
Labor market needs
New specialties are planned to be opened in accordance with market demands.:
•"Hydraulic engineering land reclamation",
•"Elevator facilities and escalators",
•"Remotely controlled aviation systems".
The Almaty region, being an industrial region, actively creates conditions for the development of working professions. The training of specialists is under constant control and will be continued in 2025.
The popularization of working professions has a long-term effect for both the economy and society. This initiative contributes to the creation of new jobs, stability in the labor market and unlocking the potential of young people.
The Almaty region is ready to implement initiatives aimed at strengthening its position as one of the leading regions of the country. The Year of Working Professions will give a new impetus to achievements, will become the basis for sustainable economic development and improvement of the quality of life.
