The 21st International Zhautykov Olympiad has started in Astana, in which the best students from 15 countries compete in mathematics, physics and computer science.
Natalia Zhumadildayeva, First Vice Minister of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, delivered a welcoming speech at the opening ceremony. She congratulated the participants and stressed the importance of such events for identifying and supporting talented youth.
"I am sure that the Zhautykov Olympiad will contribute not only to the development of students' intellectual potential, but also to strengthening the prestige of education in the country," Natalia Zhumadildaeva noted.
The chairman of the jury, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askar Zhumadildayev also addressed the participants. He stressed that the Olympiad is an important platform for the exchange of knowledge and ideas between gifted schoolchildren from different countries.
"These tasks not only test your knowledge, but also teach you to think outside the box, find creative solutions, and apply scientific approaches in real life. I wish you confidence, success and new discoveries!" added Askar Zhumadildaev.
About 700 schoolchildren from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan take part in the competition.,
Tajikistan, Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Georgia, Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia and Mongolia.
The Olympiad will last five days, and the winners will be announced on January 17th. Based on the results of the competition, an individual rating of participants will be compiled, as well as a rating of the strongest teams of specialized schools. The winners and prize-winners will receive valuable prizes, educational grants and special awards.
