Since April 5, 2025, mopeds have officially been equated to mechanical vehicles.
This means that the following documents and procedures will be required for their use:
registration with the police;
driver's license of category A1, A or B;
Technical inspection;
civil liability insurance.
To register, you must contact the Special Center at your place of residence with the following documents:
identification card (available electronically);
a technical document or characteristics of a moped.
After that, you need to fill out an application, undergo an inspection of the moped and pay state duties.
— Important: starting from April 5, the operation of unregistered mopeds and driving without a driver's license will be prohibited. We recommend registering a moped and getting a license to avoid violations," said Arai Tolegenkizi, Senior Inspector for Special Assignments of the Administrative Police Committee of the Interior Ministry.
