In Almaty, the VI International Scientific and Practical Conference dedicated to the support of the culture of knowledge, on the theme "The revival of the reading nation". The event was organized with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the International Center for the Rapprochement of Cultures under the auspices of UNESCO in partnership with the TURKSOY Writers' Union and the M. O. Auezov Institute of Literature and Art.
The purpose of the conference is to study the factors of the development of national literatures through dialogue and the convergence of world cultures, the impact of these processes on the revival of the reading nation in the 21st century and the confrontation of real factors blocking this process worldwide.
The conference brought together famous writers and scientists who discussed the key role of literature in the revival of the reading nation and its influence on the formation of the historical identity of peoples.
The focus is on the phenomenon of the "great reader", which became a key social phenomenon in the twentieth century. During the work of the sections, the participants touched upon the legacy of Olzhas Suleimenov, the role of historical literature in national consciousness and the factors of the revival of book culture in the XXI century.
The event highlighted the importance of cultural rapprochement and scientific dialogue for the development of the world literary tradition and the return of the people to the book.
