NEW APPS, SUPERCOMPUTERS, STARTUPS: WHAT PROJECTS WILL KAZAKHSTAN PRESENT IN LONDON
The British Education Training and Technology Show (Bett Show) is being held in London, Great Britain, from January 22 to 24. Kazakhstan is participating in a large-scale exhibition dedicated to modern educational technologies for the first time as a national pavilion. Six leading universities of our country are participating in the exhibition, presenting their unique projects and developments.
– Nazarbayev University presented Soyle App, a large language model of the Kazakh language ISSAI KAZ-LLM, and the Artisan Education startup at the world's leading EdTech exhibition. Soyle App is a multifunctional application that offers speech recognition, voice synthesis, and translation of spoken words and text into four languages (Kazakh, Russian, English, and Turkish). The translation quality of Soyle App is measured by BLEU indicators on the FLoRes dataset and exceeds the translation results of Google Translate, Yandex Translate, and GPT-4o. KAZ-LLM, which will serve as the basis for developing the Kazakh version of GPT chat, can be used everywhere - from translations and content generation in the Kazakh language to processing large texts.
- Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is presenting its latest achievements and innovative projects at the exhibition. These include: Faraby Supercomputer Center, Farabi Robotics - the first industrial robotics and competence center in Central Asia, the university's IT infrastructure, a studio for writing massively open online courses, and virtual laboratory work. The Faraby Supercomputer Center has a large-scale facility that is included in the list of the world's top 600 supercomputers. And the goal of Farabi Robotics is to help industrial enterprises master world-class technologies by isolating applied experience, scaling up, and training in the areas of Industry 4.0.
- L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University will demonstrate innovations aimed at improving the accessibility and quality of education at the international exhibition. Including inclusive instruction, massive open online courses (MOOCs), including courses with sign language translation, providing equal opportunities for all students, developments in the field of artificial intelligence: an avatar that emotionally lectures in the Kazakh language, a sign language interpreter avatar. Inclusive instruction is a solution designed to improve the accessibility of university infrastructure and educational resources for students with special needs. The Smart.ENU platform is an integrated system for managing the educational process, which includes elements of artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things to create a "smart campus".
- D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University at the BETT UK 2025 exhibition focused on innovative educational programs and a unique educational project called "Lu Ban Workshop", created within the framework of cooperation between China and Kazakhstan. This project is aimed at developing professional and engineering skills of students and teachers, introducing innovative technologies into the educational process, and combining traditional engineering disciplines with modern digital and automated technologies. The interactive project "SMART GUIDE" was also presented. It consists of an interactive model of the "Lu Ban Workshop" and a "SMART GUIDE" excursion robot.
– The Kazakh National Technical Research University named after K.I. Satpayev presented the Digital SU project and the high-tech MIT FabLab research center. The Digital SU project is a comprehensive digital ecosystem that automates the educational process, improves communication between students and teachers, and helps increase the efficiency of the university as a whole. And the MIT FabLab is a laboratory equipped with 3D printers, CNC machines, software tools for design and modeling. Here, in addition to developing their own scientific projects, students will master the profession of a digital design engineer, reverse engineer, and CNC machine operator.
– Students and scientists of the Safi Utebayev Atyrau University of Oil and Gas presented the "VR Virtual Field" technology at the exhibition. With the help of VR technology, students can explore various fields in a virtual environment and consolidate their theoretical knowledge. The advantages of the project are a safe experimental environment, virtual excursions, and an interactive and immersive learning process. Utebayev University will meet with education and technology specialists from different countries at this exhibition and conduct a dialogue with the aim of establishing cooperation.
Participation in the BETT UK 2025 exhibition was not only a platform for showcasing the achievements of the university, but also an important step in strengthening international ties, including the work on higher education and career guidance on this international platform.
