A foreign patient underwent a complex operation in Shymkent, removing a 6 cm tumor from his brain. The 18-year-old patient, who came from Tajikistan for special treatment, had been suffering from headaches for a long time. In recent years, the disease has worsened and reached an unbearable state. Due to the large size of the tumor removed from the brain, the risk during the operation was also high. According to the doctors, such a disease is rare.
"Currently, the patient's condition is stable. He is conscious and speaks. Good changes are noticeable. Now, God willing, our goal is to send the patient to his homeland, Tajikistan, next Tuesday. Later, the patient will need further rehabilitation assistance in Tajikistan or in Shymkent, depending on their wishes," says Marat Kulmyrzayev, head of the neurosurgery department.
Recently, the number of foreigners coming to our country for treatment has increased. Doctors say that neuro and cardiac surgery, perinatal medicine, neurology, orthopedics, and dentistry are in high demand among patients.
"Currently, we are actively developing medical tourism at Shymkent City Hospital No. 2. Neurosurgical operations and neurosurgical diagnostics are a close example of this. For example, last year, many patients from Moldova, Switzerland, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan came to our hospital to undergo diagnostics, and our doctors performed operations," says Bakytzhan Pozilov, chief physician of Shymkent City Hospital No. 2.
It should be noted that the number of citizens who have come to our country, including in Shymkent, from abroad for treatment and recovered from their illnesses has increased. Doctors attribute this to the improvement in the quality of medicine and strong competition in the field of service provision.
