The National Tool for Monitoring Educational Achievements of Students (NTAS) has passed international accreditation. Today, a meeting was held between the Minister of Education and Science Gani Beisembayev and the Director of the International Research Center for Evaluation and Certification (RCEC) Arnold Brauer.

NTAS is a national tool that determines the quality of education and the level of mastery of state universal compulsory education standards (UCES) by students. For 2023-2024, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan initiated the process of international accreditation of NTAS.

According to Gani Beisembayev, the international accreditation of the NTAS national tool confirms its reliability, validity and compliance with international quality standards. All stages and procedures of NTAS are based on scientific methods used in well-known studies such as PISA, TIMSS and PIRLS.

“Kazakhstan is taking confident steps towards improving the quality of education. The international recognition of the BMQM is a testament to our focus on introducing advanced approaches and standards. We are building a system that can withstand the test of time and successfully integrate into the global education community. We are confident that this achievement will be an important milestone in further improving the quality of education,” the minister said.

As noted by Arnold Brauer, Director of the International Research Center for Evaluation and Certification (RCEC), the national assessment system of Kazakhstan can become the basis or part of joint assessment projects in the Central Asian region.

“The Kazakhstani education system is already showing good results. Over the two years of cooperation, 7 stages of the BMQM accreditation have been implemented, which include the development of an assessment system, the creation of a database of test questions, the development of instructions for all participants, the administration of testing on a digital platform, and the analysis of results in accordance with international standards. "This is an important step in the development of the education assessment system," Arnold Brauer noted.

Let us recall that the BMQM is a Kazakhstani national study that studies the quality of education of schoolchildren, which allows us to identify strengths and weaknesses in the educational process. Its ultimate result is the development of methodological recommendations for improving the quality of education in each region, conducting a comprehensive analysis.
