During the meeting, issues of improving the quality of education, the results of the past year and plans for this year were discussed.
According to the head of the Astana city education department, last year 24 new schools were opened in the capital, 16 of which were built within the framework of the "Cozy School" national project. Due to the increase in state orders and the introduction of voucher financing, the number of waiting lists in kindergartens has been halved. The "Language Orientation" project is being implemented in 20 kindergartens.
As part of the Year of Working Professions announced by the Head of State, more than 100 events are planned to be held in Astana in six areas. The implementation of the "Atlas of New Professions" project continues in schools and colleges. It is also planned to increase the volume of state orders in colleges by 10 thousand places this year. Work is underway to open a National Competence Center to support students of technical and vocational education organizations.
Minister of Education and Science Gani Beisembayev outlined the main tasks and priorities for the development of the education system. He noted that, together with the local akimat, a Roadmap for the development of the capital's education system until 2029 has been developed and that it provides for a comprehensive solution to current issues.
"The main task is to create the safest and most comfortable environment for our children. The capital's education system should be an example for other regions. The Ministry is ready to provide further support to the akimat. Thanks to joint work, the problem of four three-shift schools and six schools with high occupancy rates in the city has been resolved. In addition, a number of works are being carried out to provide highly qualified personnel, including within the framework of the "1000 Leaders in Education" project," the minister concluded.
Today, about 400 thousand children study in 877 educational organizations in Astana, which is 30 thousand more than last year. It is planned to build another 63 schools designed for 131 thousand students by 2027.
