Prime Minister of Kazakhstan visits the Republic of India

New Delhi, 18-19 February 2026 - The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Olzhas Bektenov, held talks with the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, as part of his working visit to the Republic of India, and participated in the international summit «India AI Impact Summit 2026».

The Head of the Government of Kazakhstan conveyed to the Indian side the warm greetings of the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. In turn, the Prime Minister of India expressed his best wishes to the President of Kazakhstan and reaffirmed the commitment to further strengthening the strategic partnership.

The sides discussed prospects for expanding cooperation in trade and investment, energy, agriculture, digitalisation and artificial intelligence. Kazakhstan expressed readiness to increase exports across several product categories with an estimated potential of around 150 million US dollars. Significant potential for cooperation was also noted in critical minerals and rare earth minerals, space, defence industry, transport and logistics connectivity, and high-technology sectors.

Addressing the international summit «India AI Impact Summit 2026», Prime Minister O. Bektenov outlined Kazakhstan’s strategic priorities in digital development. He noted that, under the direction of the Head of State, Kazakhstan aims to build the foundations of a fully developed digital economy within the next three years and raise the country to a qualitatively new level of technological development.

It was noted that Kazakhstan is constantly building a national artificial intelligence ecosystem, including the development of digital infrastructure and data centers, the introduction of solutions in public administration and key economic sectors, expanding access to data, training the next generation of specialists, supporting scientific research and innovative companies, as well as work is being done to improve the regulatory framework and create conditions for the safe and responsible introduction of artificial intelligence technologies.

During the visit, the Prime Minister also toured the international technology exhibition organised at the summit venue.

The visit reaffirmed the high level of political dialogue between Kazakhstan and India and the mutual interest in expanding economic cooperation, technological partnership and joint implementation of innovative initiatives.
