01.02.2025 20:41:23 869The complex heart transplantation operation, lasting 6 hours, was performed by doctors of the Research Institute of Cardiology and Internal Medicine under the supervision of cardiac surgeon Yuri Pya in collaboration with the University Medical Center.
The organ donor was a 45-year-old resident of Almaty region, doctors declared him brain dead. Thanks to the consent of relatives, the lives of 4 citizens of Kazakhstan were saved, including a 43-year-old man with a serious heart disease "dilated cardiomyopathy (toxic)". One of the factors contributing to the deterioration of the patient's condition was excessive consumption of energy drinks for 5 years, which led to terminal heart failure that did not respond to drug therapy.
The patient was worried about shortness of breath. and shortness of breath with minor physical activity, rapid fatigue and general weakness. I began to notice a deterioration in my health in December 2023. Heredity is imposed on the maternal line - ischemic heart disease and acute myocardial infarction.

Marat Orumbasarovich expressed his gratitude to the donor’s relatives. “Voluntary consent to charity, people’s willingness to save human life is an example of humanity and kindness. Donation by relatives of donors who have given their consent to receive their organs is an honor. "Organ donation is a significant contribution to the health of society," the head of the clinic noted.
Rustem Toleutayev, head of the cardiac surgery department of the institute: "Heart transplantation is one of the most complex operations, but the experience, skills and technical equipment acquired in our clinic allow us to perform them at a high level."
It should be noted that two kidneys, a lung and a cornea were removed. A kidney was transplanted to a 17-year-old patient from the Zhetysu region at the National Scientific Center named after A. Syzganov and an 18-year-old patient from the capital. A lung was transplanted to a 43-year-old patient from the Kostanay region at the University Medical Center, and corneal keratoplasty was performed on two recipients at the UMC.
As of January 10, 2025, there are 140 adults and 5 children waiting for a heart transplant in Kazakhstan.
