Educate at a foreign university without leaving Kazakhstan
Today, as part of an explanatory event about foreign university branches, an exhibition of foreign university branches was held in Karaganda city, organized by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Akimat of Karaganda region.
The event was attended by Nurzhan Ilyash, Head of the Department for Youth Policy of Karaganda region, Ruslan Emelbayev, Advisor to the Minister of Science and Higher Education, Nauzhan Didarbekova, Deputy Director of the National Testing Center of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, Bakytzhan Zhumashev, and representatives of our country's universities, who provided important information to young graduates.
- Today, an important event in the field of education is taking place in Karaganda city. This is an exhibition of foreign university branches that have been opening in Kazakhstan in recent years. In total, strategic partnerships were established with 23 foreign universities in our country between 2022-2024, and negotiations are underway on 11 more partnerships this year. This is a great opportunity for Kazakhstani applicants, that is, our graduates can study in their own country without going abroad on the basis of a state grant and receive an international diploma, - noted Ruslan Emelbayev, Advisor to the Minister of Science and Higher Education.
As the ministry representative noted, branches of foreign universities are being opened in the regions. For this, the production potential of the region and the specialties in which there are shortages are taken into account. All branches of foreign universities opened in our country came to today's exhibition.
During the event, high school students from Karaganda and their parents got acquainted with the branches of foreign universities opened in Kazakhstan, the requirements for admission and study in them.
Currently, about 600 students are studying at the Scottish HERIOT WATT UNIVERSITY, which opened in 2022 on the basis of Zhubanov University in Aktobe. There is interest among young people, because this university has a high rating, and the admission requirements are easy.
– For admission to HERIOT WATT UNIVERSITY, the UNT results are taken into account, and instead of IELTS, university representatives themselves take an English language exam. Therefore, this is a great opportunity for young people. We have taken into account the issue of dormitories and other conditions. In addition to our branch in Aktobe, this university also has branches in Malaysia, Dubai, and Edinburgh, where our students can exchange knowledge and experience with students there, - says Askarbek Imansheev, a teacher at the Department of Mathematics at Zhubanov University.
According to the students who attended the exhibition, such events are very necessary.
– It is good that such an exhibition is organized, because most of us do not know about such opportunities. I think it is very necessary, and there is a suggestion that it should be organized more often. I received a lot of useful information for myself, and for the first time I heard about the possibility of studying in my country without going abroad and getting a double diploma. And today I received a lot of information on my chosen direction, that is, physics and mathematics, and I was wondering which university to choose. It was a wonderfully organized event, it was very useful for me, - shared the applicant Anar Alzhappar.
It should be noted that the exhibition, which began today in the city of Karaganda, will continue for 15 days and will then be held in the cities of Astana, Almaty, Taraz, Shymkent, Turkestan and Kyzylorda. This is the first stage, and later similar exhibitions will be held in other regions.
