By order of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Darkhan Zhumakanovich Akhmed-Zaki was appointed rector of the M. Auezov South Kazakhstan Research University.
Darkhan Akhmed-Zaki was born in 1981 in the East Kazakhstan region. He graduated from the Kazakh State University named after Al-Farabi, K. Graduated from the Satpayev Kazakh State Technical University.

- Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor

He began his career in 2002 as a teacher of physics and mathematics at the Republican Medical College in Almaty.

In 2003, he worked as an engineer-programmer at the Technological Research Center of Kazakhoil CJSC in Zhanaozen.

In 2004-2012 - Assistant, Teacher, Senior Teacher, Associate Professor, Deputy Dean for Educational Work of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Head of the Department of Informatics.

In 2012-2013 - Dean of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

In 2013-2016 - Deputy Director for Educational Work of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Vice-Rector.

In 2016-2017, he was the Director of the Department of Higher and Postgraduate Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In 2017-2020, he was the President of the International Business University.

From August 2020 to October 2022, he was the Rector of Astana IT University.

Since November 2022, he has been the Chairman of the Science Committee of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Since September 2023, he has been the Vice-Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
