The farmers of the region have begun harvesting the first crop of cabbage. In particular, Sheraly Tazhibayev, a resident of Zholbasshy village, Birtilek rural district, has planted cabbage on an area of 2 hectares and has already harvested 38 tons. The vegetables planted in the dark autumn of last year are now ripe. The farmer plans to harvest another 100 tons in February. The first batch of the harvested crop is being shipped to large cities in the country.
- There was little snow this year. The winter was not cold. The vegetable seedlings planted under light cover quickly took root. Each cabbage we are harvesting weighs up to 4 kilograms. If we plant cabbage earlier, then we will plant a second crop in April or May. If it comes out early, it will also affect the price. The earlier it comes out, the more expensive it will be, - says Sheraly Shyrynbayuly.
The majority of Keles farmers, who work twelve months a year, are now planting cabbage. Farms in the region are planting this type of vegetable on more than a thousand hectares of land. Harvesting three times a season has been beneficial for both the agricultural sector and farmers.
It should be noted that last year, 2,400 hectares of cabbage were planted in the Keles district, and farmers received 35 thousand tons of produce.
