The agro-industrial complex should become one of the main drivers of economic growth. This is a priority for both business and the state. This was stated by Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the Forum of Agricultural Workers.
“First of all, this is important from the point of view of ensuring food security. The life and well-being of rural residents also directly depend on the state of the industry,” the Head of State noted.
The development of the agro-industrial complex continues in Abay region. In 2024, the area sown with agricultural crops amounted to 760.2 thousand hectares. This was achieved as a result of diversification and the introduction of water-saving technologies. In particular, the area of forage crops was increased by 17.1 thousand hectares, and potatoes - by 2.3 thousand hectares.
The yield of grain and oilseed crops increased from 12 to 15 centners per hectare. In 2024, the area of irrigated land was 30.1 thousand hectares, of which 13.8 thousand hectares were used for sprinkler and drip irrigation. This not only increased the amount of fodder, but also contributed to the development of livestock farming.
Last year, the livestock population in the region increased significantly: cattle - by 42.1%, sheep - by 21.4%, goats - by 40.7%. The number of horses remained at the previous level - 350 thousand heads.
Positive dynamics are observed in the productivity of livestock products (meat products). In 2024, beef increased by 1.1%, poultry by 1.1%, milk by 2.5%, and chicken eggs by 3.1%.
13 warehouses with a total capacity of 51.8 thousand tons operate in the region for storing vegetable products. This will meet the needs of local agricultural producers.
"In 2024, the attraction of investments in the fixed capital of the agro-industrial complex exceeded the planned indicators. According to the forecast, 40.5 billion tenge was invested, in fact, 43.2 billion tenge. In 2025, it is planned to attract at least 48 billion tenge. The region will build 2 meat processing plants, 1 meat-oriented chicken factory and a production feedlot for 10 thousand heads, and install an irrigation system on 5.4 thousand hectares of arable land. The state has allocated 14.4 billion tenge in subsidies to support the agricultural sector. Work on import substitution continues. "The region provides itself with 14 types of basic food products," said Deputy Akim of the region Kuanysh Suleimenov.
In 2024, the region produced 76.7 thousand tons of flour, 2.5 thousand tons of pasta, 122.8 thousand tons of unrefined sunflower oil, 4.6 thousand tons of processed milk, 320 tons of cheese and cottage cheese, 179 tons of butter and 1,254 tons of sausage products.
One of the important projects is the launch of a refined vegetable oil production line at the Qazaq Astyq Group LLP with a capacity of 72 thousand tons per year in 2025. The investment in the project will amount to 7.2 billion tenge.
The Deputy Akim noted that all these measures are aimed at strengthening the region's food security, developing agriculture and reducing dependence on imported goods.
