A meeting on the development of compulsory social health insurance was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Akim of Astana, Erik Meirkhanov, the official website of the capital's akimat reports.
The meeting was attended by the Head of the Public Health Department Aliya Rustemova, Head of the Capital's Department of Employment and Social Protection Ilya Skub, Director of the Capital Branch of the Social Medical Insurance Fund JSC Gulzhan Shaikhybekova, and medical organizations of the city.
The meeting discussed the development of the compulsory health insurance system.
As of January 1, 2025, the level of coverage of the compulsory health insurance system in the capital was more than 83%, which is higher than the corresponding period last year.
“For the majority of uninsured, employers do not regularly transfer contributions or do not transfer them at all. It is important to strengthen explanatory work among employers and citizens so that they understand the benefits of health insurance and the need for regular contributions,” the director of the Fund’s branch said in his report.
In addition, a set of measures was proposed to inform citizens about the rules for participating in the compulsory health insurance system, their rights and opportunities, as well as the consequences of not having health insurance. A set of measures was also proposed to involve the population in the compulsory health insurance system, including: organizing public reception rooms to conduct explanatory work for the population, target groups - mothers with many children, service professionals, individual entrepreneurs and self-employed citizens.
“It is necessary to identify the main reasons why part of the population is excluded from the compulsory health insurance system. This will help to develop effective solutions to raise citizens’ awareness and improve the quality of medical services. It is important not only to identify problem areas, but also to propose specific steps to eliminate them. Based on the information received, targeted measures will be developed and large-scale explanatory work will be carried out among various groups of the population,” said Erik Meirkhanov.
