THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH IS INITIALIZING ACCESSION TO THE ILO CONVENTION ON THE WORKING CONDITIONS OF NURSING PERSONNEL

The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan will initiate additional measures to improve the working conditions of nurses in accordance with the international requirements of the International Labor Organization (ILO) during the Year of Working Professions.
These initiatives will be considered within the framework of promoting the ratification of ILO Convention No. 149 “On Employment, Working Conditions and Life of Nursing Personnel”.
During a meeting with the Advisor to the Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Akmaral Alnazarova, the Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Lyazzat Aktaeva, and the Chairman of the Kazakhstan Sectoral Trade Union of Healthcare and Public Service Workers, Bakytzhan Tazhibay, discussed a number of issues related to the ratification of the document and the expected results in the form of improving the working conditions of paramedical personnel.
The meeting participants urged the Head of the Ministry of Health to provide expert support to the ILO Kazakhstani side in post-stratification actions in the Republic of Kazakhstan, to develop a “Nursing staff".
After ratification of ILO Convention N149, nursing personnel in educational, social protection organizations and other sectors will be given the same rights and obligations as in the health sector.
Medical colleges will provide training for junior nurses, caregivers and other patient care professionals. Jobs will be created for junior nurses in medical organizations, who can be assigned to perform the daily functions of nurses to reduce the workload. The availability of medical services for home care for patients will improve.
After ratification of ILO Convention N149, additional impetus will be given to further implementation of international standards.
