Preparation for floods: forces and means have been mobilized to protect the population

On February 14, 2025, a press conference was held at the Central Communications Service under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the topic “Preparation for the Flood Period”. The speaker was Zhylkaydarov Asset Dumanuly, Acting Chairman of the Emergency Situations Prevention Committee of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations, together with central state and local executive bodies, continues to take a set of measures to prepare for the flood period.
Due to the expected flood risks, 24-hour monitoring stations have been set up in areas located in the southern and western regions, which monitor the situation and provide up-to-date information about the current situation.
“In the event of a worsening situation, we will urgently deliver additional forces and equipment to the affected regions, as well as prepare to evacuate the population and conduct emergency rescue operations,” Asset Zhylkaydarov reported.
As part of the preparations, civil defense military units have been put on high alert, and rescue aviation is on emergency duty. To improve efficiency, operational control groups have been created based on command and staff vehicles, which allow real-time information to be transmitted from areas of potential emergencies. The Ministry of Emergency Situations is ready to take all necessary measures to mitigate the consequences of the flood and ensure the safety of citizens.
