New technologies and cooperation with industry: what projects did universities present at the "City of Working Professions" festival
As part of the Year of Working Professions announced by the Head of State, the "City of Working Professions" festival is being held at the EXPO exhibition grounds in Astana from February 11 to 15.
The festival will become a platform for mutual cooperation between future specialists, employers, and technical and vocational education organizations.
At 40 interactive exhibitions in the city, you can immerse yourself in the intricacies of more than 200 professions and get acquainted with the specifics of economic sectors. Various seminars, master classes, innovation sessions and job fairs will be organized within the framework of the festival for several days.
The exhibition facilities of Satbayev University, D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University and S. Utebayev Atyrau Oil and Gas University, as well as the project “My Profession – My Future” will be presented in the city of “Working Professions”.
The Kazakh National Technical Research University named after K. Satbayev, together with the largest automaker in Kazakhstan, Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan, presented a unique VR-laboratory for car painting at the festival. This innovative development is 100% a product of the university. With the help of the laboratory, students can visit the Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan paint shop without leaving the university walls and get acquainted with advanced car painting technologies, as well as gain practical skills in applying paint and varnish materials. In turn, the production trains newly hired employees without using consumables.
D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University demonstrated the latest achievements in the field of engineering technologies. The university's presentation focused on important projects aimed at transforming the transport sector. One of the main projects in this direction was the Lu Ban Workshop. The Lu Ban Workshop was based on such topical topics in this area as electric vehicles, artificial intelligence in transport management, and optimization of transport flows.
Another important project presented at the festival is a mobile platform designed to study the principles of working with an autopilot system of robots. This platform can be used for transportation, delivery, and other special tasks. According to the principle of operation of the robot, it can move in a completely autonomous mode.
Students and scientists of the S. Utebayev Atyrau Oil and Gas University presented the "VR Virtual Field" technology at the exhibition. With the help of VR technology, students can explore various fields in a virtual environment and consolidate their theoretical knowledge. The advantages of the project are a safe experimental environment, virtual excursions, interactive and immersive learning process.
The results of the work on the development of Regional Atlases of new professions within the framework of the “My Profession – My Future” project were presented. It should be noted that currently the project covers 9 regions and its full coverage of all regions is planned by the end of the year. Also, more than 500 new professions have been identified within the framework of the project in 43 sectors of the economy.
