The Kazakh women's ice hockey team won the silver medal at the Asian Winter Games. In the decisive match of the competition held in Harbin, China, the national team clearly defeated South Korea with a score of 3:0, the official website of the capital's akimat reports.
In the first period of the meeting, one of the team captains, Malika Aldabergenova, effectively took advantage of the numerical advantage and opened the scoring. At the beginning of the second period, Yulia Butorina from the capital doubled the score with a devastating shot. Towards the end of the game, Daria Moldabay scored another goal, sealing Kazakhstan's victory.
During the tournament, the national team performed at a high level, defeating the teams of Hong Kong (12:0), Thailand (9:0), Chinese Taipei (5:1), China (2:1) and South Korea (1:0). Only in the final did they lose to the Japanese team (0:4). It should be noted that the Kazakhstan women's national team included seven athletes from Astana - Anastasia Orazbayeva, Nadezhda Filimonova, Alexandra Shchegay, Alexandra Voronova, Ekaterina Kutsenko, Arina Shchekolova and Yulia Butorina. This is the 7th medal for the Kazakhstan women's hockey team at the Asian Games. Previously, the team had won 3 gold and 3 bronze medals.
