The "City of Working Professions" festival, which was held from February 11 to 15 as part of the Year of Working Professions declared by the Head of State, has come to an end.
The Minister of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Gani Beisembayev delivered a congratulatory speech to the participants and guests of the event.
Over five days, more than 50 thousand people from all regions of the country came to the festival. Guests got acquainted with more than 200 working professions, visited 8 thematic streets and 40 interactive areas.
Special attention was paid to schoolchildren and their parents during the festival. More than 30 thousand students underwent professional diagnostics, identifying their skills, interests and abilities. This is very important in choosing their future profession.
The "City of Working Professions" festival was not only a large-scale event, but also an important growth point in the development of technical and vocational education. One of the main results was the signing of about 250 memorandums of cooperation between colleges and enterprises. The active participation of employers in this process is encouraging. Our main priority is to train qualified specialists who are in demand in the labor market. To this end, we will increase cooperation with the business community and investors. In this direction, it is planned to upgrade the material and technical base of more than 270 state colleges, as well as increase the number of enterprises providing patronage to colleges to 4 thousand,” said Gani Beisembayev.
In conclusion, the Minister expressed his gratitude to all ministries, akimats, national companies, enterprises, colleges, and representatives of the mass media who contributed to the organization of the festival and raising the prestige of working professions.
Over the five days of the festival, more than 30 vocational guidance master classes, 70 quizzes, about 200 games and quizzes were organized, and more than 1,000 prizes and gifts were awarded. Specially trained guides conducted more than 210 excursions for college students and schoolchildren.
As part of the “Peaceful Atom” master class, children learned about the industries where atomic energy is used, and at the “Flight Attendant Career” workshop, employees of the Air Astana airline company told about the advantages of the profession and the requirements for flight attendants and pilots. On Metallurgists Street, students and pupils tried themselves in the role of a geologist, geophysicist, miner, and operator. Large employers such as ERG, Kazakhmys, and Qarmet equipped their exhibitions with simulators, mock-ups, simulators, and VR technologies, allowing participants to delve deeper into the intricacies of their professions.
A large-scale exposition dedicated to future professions in the fields of IT, automation, and space was organized. In the techno-arena, master classes and performance events were held by technological colleges, universities, and the Republican Space Communications Center. For innovators and future developers, the robot battle organized by the Quattuor team made a special impression.
It should be noted that today, 772 colleges in the technical and vocational education system of Kazakhstan educate 556 thousand students. With the support of the Head of State, scholarships for college students have doubled since 2023. This year, the number of students receiving free technical and vocational education in popular specialties will reach 153 thousand, which is 10 thousand more than last year. 70% of the state order will be allocated to mechanical engineering, transport, energy, IT, construction and other technical specialties.
The festival is organized by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as the Ministries of Industry and Construction, Transport, Energy, Agriculture, Ecology and Natural Resources, Water Resources and Irrigation, Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry, Emergencies, Healthcare, Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as national companies and large enterprises of the country.
