The issues of digital transformation of the aviation industry and improving the quality of passenger service at the international airport were considered at the meeting of the staff chaired by the head of the region.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Aliya Moldagulova International Airport JSC, Dastan Maliyev, spoke about the measures being taken to increase passenger traffic, introduce innovative solutions, and modernize infrastructure.

According to him, the passenger traffic at Aktobe Airport is increasing by an average of 10% every year. At the end of 2024, the number of passengers served reached almost 1 million, or 985 thousand people, and the volume of cargo handled exceeded 11 thousand tons. The airport continues to develop connections with major cities and countries, allowing passengers to travel on 11 routes, including regular and seasonal flights to Astana, Almaty, Aktau, Atyrau, Turkestan, Shymkent, Istanbul, Antalya, Sharm El Sheikh, Doha, Phuket. In particular, the number of flights to Sharm El Sheikh increased in 2024, thanks to the addition of new frequencies by Air Cairo and FlyArystan. Next year, it is planned to increase the number of flights to Antalya to 12 per week.

In addition, starting from May 2 of this year, SCAT Airlines will open flights from Aktobe to Shymkent with a frequency of 4 times a week, and FlyArystan Airlines will resume flights in this direction from June 1. In total, 6 flights per week will be available to Shymkent.  

"Aktobe Airport is actively implementing infrastructure modernization projects to ensure increased cargo flow and improve the quality of passenger service. Priority projects include the modernization of the fuel complex, the construction of modern warehouse infrastructure, and the creation of a special economic zone covering the territory of the facility. These steps will strengthen the airport's position as an important cargo hub and improve conditions for future expansion," said Dastan Maliyev.

Currently, the airport operates a digital document service for domestic passengers, the CUTE system has been installed, which allows for fast and convenient service for passengers, and last year passport and ID card readers were purchased, which accelerated the passenger check-in process. 

In order to increase the efficiency of cargo operations, the airport has introduced software and control devices to modernize the oil product warehouse. The E-Freight information system is now used to process and support cargo transportation, which has automated the process of air cargo transportation and accelerated cargo processing.

The introduction of boarding passes and the "E-Gate" software and hardware complex is included in the airport's plan for 2025-2026. This will allow for automatic border control of departing and arriving passengers.

The regional governor stressed the importance of further developing Aktobe International Airport as the main transport hub of the region. Askhat Shakharov noted the need to transform the Aliya Moldagulova International Airport into an international air hub on the instructions of the President of the country. In connection with this task, it is planned to implement two investment projects on the territory of the airport: the creation of a logistics center and the opening of a fuel station. Currently, PAG 18 panels have been purchased to improve the quality and safety of the runway surface. Work is also underway to purchase special equipment. "To develop the airport in the international arena, we need to continue to modernize the infrastructure and introduce new technologies and solutions in the field of digitalization. It is important that all processes at the airport are as automated as possible and convenient for passengers. We need to actively work to create modern conditions for the growth of cargo flows, especially within the framework of the implementation of the cargo hub project. Special attention should be paid to information security issues. It is also necessary to expand the route network and open new domestic and international flights in order to make the airport not only an important element of the logistics infrastructure of the region, but also a center of tourist attraction," the akim noted.
