On February 18, 2025, a thematic session “Energy Cooperation of the Caspian Sea Littoral States” was held in Tehran, the Islamic Republic of Iran, as part of the 3rd Caspian Economic Forum, in which the Vice Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alibek Zhamauov participated from Kazakhstan.
In his report, he spoke about the progress of the implementation of the “Kalamkas-Khazar” project in the Caspian Sea, which is being implemented in partnership with LUKOIL CJSC.
In addition, Kazakhstan is actively diversifying oil supply routes, developing routes through Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan. Also at the session, Alibek Zhamauov raised issues related to the decline in the level of the Caspian Sea and touched upon the initiatives of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan to prevent and manage environmental risks in the region.
“The creation of a coordinated energy policy is very important for Kazakhstan and all countries of the Caspian region. This will allow us to increase our technological capabilities and gain competitive advantages in socio-economic development,” noted Alibek Zhamauov, Deputy Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Experts are confident that the joint efforts of the Caspian countries in the energy sector can become a reliable basis for the sustainable development of the region’s economy and ecology.
