As part of the instructions of the Akim of Turkestan region Darkhan Satybaldy to attract investments to districts and cities in order to improve the socio-economic situation, increase the number of manufacturing enterprises and reduce unemployment among the population, one of such projects was launched in Zhetysai district — a licorice root processing enterprise.
Akim of Turkestan region Darkhan Satybaldy visited this enterprise and got acquainted with its work. He noted the importance of supporting businessmen and active entrepreneurs, and also instructed the heads of the district and the relevant departments to continue working in this direction.
The Kasym ASES enterprise was opened at the expense of private investments in the amount of 600 million tenge and has a processing capacity of 10 thousand tons of licorice per year. As part of the first stage, which was implemented this year, 56 jobs were created, and the second stage, which will begin next year, will employ another 50 people. According to preliminary forecasts, the company will not purchase licorice root at a price below 120 tenge per kilogram.
Licorice root is used in cosmetology, to create foaming substances for cocktails, as well as in the production of kvass, beer, soft drinks, halva, chocolate, caramel and dietary jelly as a natural sweetener. In medicine, it is used to treat dry cough in pneumonia, bronchitis, sore throat, tuberculosis, as well as to normalize voice in inflammation of the larynx, treatment of prostate adenoma, kidney and urinary tract diseases, diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, as well as for the treatment of joints, arthritis, rheumatism and other diseases.
It should be noted that over the past 5 years, 90.2 billion tenge of investments have been attracted to the district, and in the period from 2024 to 2030, it is planned to attract 419.6 billion tenge. It is expected that this will lead to the receipt of 2.17 billion tenge of tax revenues. By 2030, the volume of investments in the fixed capital of the district should grow by 3.8 times.
This year, 11 investment projects worth 8.2 billion tenge are being implemented in the district, which will lead to the creation of 959 new jobs.
Work is actively underway in the Turkestan region to attract investments in accordance with the instructions of the President of Kazakhstan. Since the beginning of the year, 888.5 billion tenge of investments have been attracted to the region, which is 17.7% more compared to the same period last year. Foreign direct investment amounted to 685 million US dollars, which is 1.5 times more than the annual plan.
