Akim of Abay region Berik Uali held his first meeting as the head of the region with elders and representatives of the intelligentsia. During the lively conversation, topical issues related to the current state and future of the region were discussed.

With your support, I will do my best to develop our region. Historical justice was served, and three years ago, Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev reopened our region. "The task ahead is to continue the work done since the region was founded and fulfill the President's instructions," said the regional akim.

The head of the region noted that the President's instructions on diversifying the economy, improving the investment climate, developing tourism, and unlocking the potential of historical and cultural sites in the region will be given special attention, with special attention being paid to agriculture, transport and logistics.
Elders and intellectuals who spoke at the meeting expressed their wish that attention be paid to the development of rural areas, tourism, agriculture, and culture.

At the end of the meeting, the elder of the Abay region, Moldabek Zhanbolatov, expressed his good wishes and blessed the regional head. As part of his working trip to the People's Republic of China, the akim of Almaty, Yerbolat Dossayev, met with the chairman of the Shanghai Federation of Disabled Persons, Du Sunquan. The meeting took place at the Sunshine 201 Disability Employment Center in Shanghai, which is a multifunctional platform that provides services for people with special needs in employment, vocational training, consulting, and participation in business incubation programs. In addition, the center annually provides rehabilitation and medical care to people with special needs. In recent years, the efficiency of rehabilitation services at the center has reached more than 90%.
Yerbolat Dossaev noted that the experience of the Shanghai Federation of Disabled Persons in improving legislation and infrastructure for people with special needs, employment methods, job quota mechanisms and the use of artificial intelligence for automatic selection of services is of particular interest to Almaty.
Following the results of the meeting, the parties discussed the possibility of developing a joint plan for the development of an inclusive environment in Almaty within the framework of bilateral cooperation. This will allow for the successful implementation of new projects on social support, rehabilitation and employment of people with special needs.
It should be noted that one of the priorities in the work of the Almaty akimat is the creation of an inclusive environment, providing equal opportunities for all residents in education, employment and social adaptation, regardless of their physical capabilities. 56 thousand people with special needs are registered in the city. In Shanghai, 613,100 people with special needs were registered and certified in 2024.
