Akim of Abay region Berik Uali got acquainted with the work of large enterprises in Semey. He visited key production facilities in the region, such as “ARAI-EAST FOOD” LLP, “SemAZ” LLP, Semey Cement Plant, “Semey Engineering” JSC, and Semey Machine-Building Plant. He met with employees and listened to their suggestions and opinions.
“ARAI-EAST FOOD” LLP has been producing sausage products in accordance with halal standards since 2024. The enterprise produces more than 80 types of boiled and smoked sausages. A packaging line with innovative equipment and three production workshops operate on the territory of the plant. Last year, an additional line for the production of sausage products was put into operation at the enterprise. As a result, the annual output of up to 1.8 thousand tons of finished products was achieved. Today, 120 people work here. The enterprise plans to expand production in the future.
SemAZ LLP is a large agricultural and truck assembly plant in the country. About 400 people work here. The enterprise annually assembles 3,500 Belarus tractors, 10,000 Shacman and FOTON trucks, and 1,200 various buses. Last year, the city's bus fleet purchased 60 public buses from this enterprise. This work will continue this year. The regional governor, Berik Uali, announced that new buses will be purchased from SemAZ LLP in the future to modernize the dilapidated bus fleet in Semey.
"City residents often complain about public transport. Therefore, we need to solve this problem promptly and systematically," the head of the region said.
The Semey Cement Plant, built in 1958, produces 1.1 million tons of cement per year. The enterprise has been undergoing complete modernization since 2016. The factory's products are sold in the Kazakhstan market and exported abroad.
The heads of the enterprises reported to the regional akim about the implemented projects and shared their plans for expanding production. In turn, the regional head said that local production facilities would receive appropriate support from the state, and called on enterprise leaders to participate in the improvement of Semey and invest in the city within the framework of the social responsibility of business. He also drew attention to the issue of workers' salaries. The regional akim also got acquainted with the work of the Semey Machine-Building Plant and instructed the enterprise management to consider increasing the average salary of employees.
"The enterprises whose work we got acquainted with today are of great importance for the region and the population. Appropriate work is being carried out to increase their production potential. The necessary assistance from the region will be provided to positive initiatives and new projects. In the future, I plan to visit other enterprises in the region in accordance with my work schedule," the regional akim said.
The regional head also got acquainted with the work of the Higher College of IT and New Technologies in the city, which was renovated last year. Today, more than 750 students are studying here in modern specialties. The regional akim was presented with the scientific works, achievements and IT projects of the students.
"I am aware of the work of this college. Its students are winners of international Olympiads. Last year, funds were allocated from the regional budget and the college was completely modernized. The potential of IT projects is huge. The development of artificial intelligence is important. Both the Head of State and the Government are paying special attention to this. Work in this direction should be continued," said Berik Uali.
