A field meeting of the Committee on Agrarian Issues, Nature Management and Rural Development was held in Zhambyl region

Deputies of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan arrived in Zhambyl region on a working visit. Among them are the Chairman of the Committee on Agrarian Issues, Natural Resources Management and Rural Development Ali Bektayev and committee members Olga Bulavkina, Saken Arubaev, Yernur Aitkenov, Zhanbolat Zhorghenbayev, Zakirzhan Kuziev, Arman Utegulov, as well as a member of the Finance and Budget Committee Bekbolat Orynbekov.
First, the senators visited the Kazakh National University of Water Management and Irrigation, established by order of the Head of State, and inspected its material and technical base. The educational institution trains specialists in 53 educational programs. Today, 2,297 students are studying there. Of these, 24 are studying for a doctorate and 72 for a master's degree.
During the visit, the rector of the university, Kamshat Tusupova, made recommendations on providing modern laboratory equipment, modernizing the building, and other issues.
After that, a field meeting of the Senate Committee on Agrarian Issues, Nature Management, and Rural Development was held at the regional akimat. The meeting discussed in detail the tasks arising from the President's Address to the People "A Fair Kazakhstan: Law and Order, Economic Growth, and Public Optimism."
First Deputy Akim of Zhambyl Region, Nurzhan Kalenderov, noted that the field meeting was of particular importance in the region and wished the deputies success in their work.
At the meeting, the Chairman of the Committee on Agrarian Issues, Nature Management, and Rural Development, Ali Bektayev, committee member Saken Arubayev, as well as representatives of the ministry and experts made reports on the modernization of irrigation systems and the training of water management specialists. Industry veterans shared their thoughts and specific proposals.
In turn, the deputy akim of the region, Abilkhair Tamabek, touched upon the measures being taken to rationally use water resources and reduce water dependence from neighboring countries, as well as pressing issues that require the support of the Senate and the Government.
According to the speaker, 727.24 kilometers of water systems have been modernized and 46 wells have been drilled in 6 districts thanks to loans from international banks. Thanks to these measures, the level of water coverage of 47.5 thousand hectares of irrigated land has increased. The work continues.
In addition, the modernization and overhaul of 203 irrigation canals located in the region, the construction of 10 new reservoirs are planned, and relevant work is underway.
In 2024, water-saving technologies were introduced on 15.4 thousand hectares, bringing the total figure in the region to 55.4 thousand hectares.
Following the results of the meeting, the citizens expressed confidence that their problems and requests would be taken into account and raised in Parliament.
- Modernization of irrigation systems and training of qualified specialists are strategically important tasks directly related to the development of agriculture and the economic stability of the region. Zhambyl region has always played a leading role in training personnel for water management. Given the new threats ahead, we need to introduce modern water-saving technologies, effectively manage water resources, and solve the problem of personnel shortage. This will not only increase the productivity of the agricultural sector, but also ensure the long-term water security of the country, - said Ali Bektayev.
During the trip, the deputies got acquainted with the work of the enterprise producing drip irrigation equipment, TarazKozhObuv LLP and the Khlebny Dar bakery. They also paid attention to the current state of the Teris-Ashchybulak reservoir, which is undergoing reconstruction, and topical issues at the sugar factory.
