This was announced by Vice Minister Amangali Berdalin at an expanded meeting of the Board of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The fishing industry of Kazakhstan is one of the promising areas of the agro-industrial complex. In 2024, fish farms increased the volume of commercial fish grown to 24 thousand tons, which indicates an increase of 28% compared to 2023.
A number of important initiatives have been implemented for the further development of the industry. In particular, budget lending at a rate of 2.5% was introduced to support fish farming and processing projects, a procedure for approving plots in large water bodies to investors without a tender was introduced, which creates favorable conditions for the development of aquaculture.
The limit for fry production in the Caspian Sea was increased from 8 to 30 thousand tons. A nature reserve was created to preserve the Caspian seal.
One of the important steps was the introduction of the "e-fish" surveillance information system, which ensures integration with state information systems and prevents illegal fish trafficking. Temporary restrictions have been introduced on the unprocessed export of pike perch and bream. This ban allowed fish processing enterprises to increase the volume of processed products by 699 tons, which is 23% more than in 2023. From February 14, 2025, the ban was extended for another six months.
Significant attention is also paid to the increase in aquatic bioresources. 53.8 million fry of various fish species, including sturgeon, whitefish and carp, were released to their natural habitats.
Work on the development of the industry will continue in 2025.
