Kazakhstan and Czechia Strengthen Interparliamentary Dialogue

Prague, March 18, 2025 – A delegation of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, led by the Head of the Kazakhstan-Czechia Interparliamentary Cooperation Group, Ruslan Kozhasbayev, paid a working visit to the Czech Republic. The Kazakh delegation also included the Chair of the Committee on Finance and Budget, Tatyana Savelyeva, and a member of the Committee on Legislation and Judicial-Legal Reform, Kairat Balabiev.
During the visit, negotiations were held with Czech deputies, members of the Czechia-Kazakhstan Friendship Group in the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament, chaired by Radek Vondráček, Chairman of the Committee on Constitutional and Legal Affairs. The parties discussed prospects for the development of bilateral interparliamentary cooperation, emphasizing the need to intensify dialogue on pressing political, economic, and humanitarian cooperation issues. Particular attention was given to the exchange of legislative experience, collaboration within international parliamentary organizations, and support for educational and cultural initiatives. The deputies also agreed to strengthen cooperation between relevant parliamentary committees of both countries.
The Kazakh delegation also held talks with the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Jiří Kozák. The meeting covered a wide range of bilateral cooperation issues, including the strengthening of trade and economic partnerships, the development of cultural and humanitarian ties, and regional security matters.
The parties discussed opportunities to expand mutual investments, particularly in the energy, engineering, and high-tech sectors. The potential for developing joint infrastructure projects and enhancing bilateral business contacts was also noted.
The Czech side highly appreciated the reforms being implemented in Kazakhstan aimed at developing democratic institutions and strengthening the rule of law. In turn, the Kazakh delegation highlighted the significant potential for cooperation in the fields of engineering, energy, agriculture, education, and other sectors.
At the conclusion of the negotiations, both sides expressed their commitment to further deepening interparliamentary cooperation and fostering dialogue at all levels. The parliamentarians confirmed their mutual interest in holding regular meetings and exchanging experience to strengthen friendly relations between the two countries and their peoples.
