Kazakhstan’s Achievements in Combating Corruption Discussed at the Council of Europe

Strasbourg, March 17-19, 2025 – During the 99th plenary meeting of the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO), the Third Round Evaluation Report on Kazakhstan was adopted.
The report provides an analysis of Kazakhstan’s legislation in the areas of criminalizing corruption-related offenses and financing political parties. GRECO experts formulated specific recommendations to help Kazakhstan align with European and international standards in these areas.
During the discussion of the report, GRECO experts highlighted Kazakhstan’s comprehensive reforms led by the country’s leadership, which aim, among other things, to counteract corruption risks.
Legislative initiatives in the fight against corruption, ensuring transparency in political party financing, and improving the overall party system in Kazakhstan received positive assessments.
In turn, the Kazakh delegation, led by the First Deputy Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Agency U.Sarkulov, provided detailed information and clarifications on the ongoing reforms in the country. Kazakhstan’s position was fully taken into account in the adoption of the report.
