Kazakhstan wrestlers performed with dignity at the Asian Championship in Amman

On March 25-30, 2025, the capital of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Amman, hosted the Senior Asian Championships 2025 wrestling under the aegis of the United World Wrestling. The tournament became the largest continental event of the year in this sport, gathering more than 370 athletes from 39 countries of Asia at the Princess Sumaya lounge in the Al Hussein Youth City.

Kazakhstan's national team competed in Greco-Roman, women's, and freestyle wrestling, demonstrating its sports results and replenishing the country's awards with medals of different merit.

In Greco-Roman wrestling, the Kazakhstani team won three medals: silver for Alimkhan Syzdykov (130 kg) and bronze for Ibragim Magomadov (77 kg) and Shamil Ozhaev (87 kg).

In women's wrestling, Zhamilya Bakbergenova, who became Asian champion in the 72 kg category, and Zeynep Bayanova, who brought the national team bronze in the 53 kg category, distinguished themselves.

Kazakhstan won five medals in freestyle wrestling: gold for Nurkozha Kaipanov (74 kg), silver for Rizabek Aitmukhan (97 kg) and Bolat Sakayev (86 kg), and bronze for Azamat Dauletbekov (92 kg) and Rakhat Kalzhan (57 kg).

The medal ceremony was attended by the President of the Asian Wrestling Federation, H.E. Mr. Daulet Turlykhanov, and the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Jordan, H.E. Mr. Talgat Shaldanbay.

The results of the freestyle wrestling tournament show that the Kazakhstani team took third place in the team medal standings.

The Embassy of Kazakhstan to Jordan assisted the Kazakh delegation with organizational and protocol issues, ensuring a worthy representation of the country at the competition.
