National Guard servicemen on duty at Institution No. 19 in Semey thwarted an attempt to smuggle five smartphones, five SIM cards, a Wi-Fi router, and five liters of alcohol. The offender concealed the prohibited items inside a bucket of water-based emulsion, wrapping it multiple times with tape.

Berik Akybaev, squad commander of the operational battalion of Military Unit 5511, noticed that the construction materials were excessively sealed, which raised suspicions.

— The 30-liter container of water-based emulsion was wrapped multiple times with tape. Upon inspection, I noticed another container inside. After opening it, we discovered the prohibited items, — said Sergeant Akybaev.

The detainee admitted his guilt. The contraband was seized and handed over to the UIS staff.
