The Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Nurzhan Nurzhigitov, instructed all heads of responsible institutions to organize the work of collecting flood water in reservoirs of the country. In the future, this water will be used for the needs of the economy and the preservation of the local ecosystem. Also, melted snow water is sent to rivers and lakes, meadows and natural pastures. The flood water collected in the reservoirs is also given to the farmers to irrigate the fields during the irrigation season.

It should be noted that the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation regulates the operation of hydraulic structures during floods. Reservoirs are one of the most important strategic objects.

Let us remind you that last year 75 billion cubic meters of water was collected in the country's reservoirs. This is 15 billion more than a year ago. More than 12 billion cubic meters of collected water is flood water. 3.3 billion cubic meters of water were sent to Lake Balkhash and about 6 billion cubic meters to the Caspian Sea. 80 million cubic meters of flood water was sent to the Kamys-Samar lake system in West Kazakhstan region, which has become dry in recent years. 839 million cubic meters of water was sent from Ulytau region to the lake system of Kyzylorda region. For the first time since 2000, a large amount of water flow was observed in the Tobyl River. And the collection of flood water in the Astana Reservoir made it possible to save about 2 billion tenge. This is because there was no need to send additional water to the reservoir from the canal named after K. Satbayev. Water is being sent to the water reservoirs of the northern, western, eastern and central regions to prepare empty capacities. Meanwhile, reservoirs in the south of the country are actively collecting water to provide irrigation water to local farmers in the upcoming irrigation season. We will collect as much water as possible for farmers in all reservoirs and use it in the summer," said Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Nurzhan Nurzhigitov.
