In SKO, the police found out the facts of using sim-boxes in the territory of Petropavlovsk. They are located in apartments rented under false documents. According to the assumption, their owner - a 32-year-old citizen of one of the CIS countries - was arrested.

Using SIM-boxes, Internet fraudsters have the opportunity to call their victims from fake numbers under the guise of "banks", "law enforcement agencies", "mobile communication operators", "Kazposhta" and other organizations.

According to law enforcement officers, all actions of fraudsters are aimed at the following three goals is supported.

1. They ask the person to say the code received by SMS. Do not do this at all: criminals who know the code can take over your accounts.

2. Scammers trick people into installing AnyDesk, TeamViewer, HopToDesk, AirDroidControl and other unknown applications on their phones. These are applications that allow fraudsters to remotely control your mobile phone. If you find that your phone is not responding to your commands, try enabling Airplane mode, which will terminate the remote control session.

3. Often the goal of scammers is to convince a person to take out a large loan and deposit money into a "safe" or "reserve" account. Remember: no bank employee can persuade a person to perform any financial transactions. To protect yourself, use the voluntary loan waiver service in the Egov.mobile mobile application.

The suspect is currently in custody. The police are investigating whether it is related to the work of a large network of cybercriminals.
