The opening ceremony of the first international adult Greco-Roman wrestling tournament dedicated to the memory of Hero of the Soviet Union Taimbet Komekbayev took place in Kyzylorda with the participation of Akim of the region Nurlybek Nalibayev. Wrestlers from more than ten countries and all regions of Kazakhstan take part in the competitions.

The opening ceremony was attended by Taimbet Komekbayev's son, Knight of the Order of Glory II degree, Major General Bagban Taimbetov, Vice-President of the Federation of Greco-Roman, Freestyle and Women's Wrestling of the Republic of Kazakhstan Dauren Zhabasov and other honored guests.
The head of the region wished the participants of the tournament good luck and spoke about the large-scale projects being implemented in the region to develop sports.

– The Head of State, in his speech at the fourth meeting of the National Kurultai, noted that the promotion of sports, especially its popularization among the younger generation, is the key to the health of the nation, – N. Nalibayev emphasized. – In recent years, 18 sports complexes have been built in the region. Last year, together with the Samruk Kazyna Trust foundation, a table Tennis Center worth 3.4 billion tenge was commissioned in the regional center.
A central stadium with 11,000 seats and a multi-purpose sports complex "Kyzylorda Arena" are under construction. With the support of the Kazakhstan Halkyna Foundation, the construction of a multidisciplinary sports and recreation complex has been launched. In May, the Academy of Creativity will open, which will also have several sports sections.

The head of the region expressed confidence that the international tournament will also contribute to fostering a sense of patriotism in our youth, creating competition and reaching new heights on the sporting Olympus.
Ruslan Yesenalin, Chairman of the Committee on Physical Culture and Sports of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Ardasher Shayymbetov, a descendant of the hero, also spoke at the ceremony. Famous Kyrgyz wrestler, two-time world champion, three-time Asian champion, Olympic silver and bronze medalist Akzhol Makhmudov was honored. According to tradition, the distinguished guest was presented with a national chapan.

It should be noted that every year a number of events are held in the region aimed at popularizing and perpetuating the name of Hero of the Soviet Union Taimbet Komekbayev. It is worth emphasizing that the international Greco-Roman wrestling tournament is being held in the region for the first time, and from now on it will be held with the support of the akim of the region.
