Kazakhstan and Malaysia Strengthen Strategic Cooperation Amid Global Challenges

Kuala-Lumpur, April 21, 2025 - Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Malaysia, Bulat Sugurbayev, met with the President of the Malaysia South-South Association and founder of the AmBank Group, Tan Sri Azman Hashim, to explore new avenues for Kazakh-Malaysian cooperation, with a particular focus on investment in digitalization and artificial intelligence.

The parties discussed the increasing logistical potential between Central Asia and Southeast Asia, which is opening up new opportunities for business communities in both countries. Ambassador Sugurbayev also highlighted Kazakhstan's foreign policy initiatives, including the upcoming Astana International Forum in May, which will serve as a platform for addressing pressing global challenges. Particular attention was given to the strategic alignment and enhanced cooperation among “middle powers.”

Tan Sri Azman highlighted Kazakhstan’s geostrategic role and praised the country’s potential for launching mutually beneficial projects. He also emphasized the need for diversification and the development of new trade chains and transport routes amid rapid changes in the global economy.

Both parties expressed a mutual interest in strengthening practical cooperation between the business communities of Kazakhstan and Malaysia.
