The Kazakh side at the negotiations was represented by Gabidulla Ospankulov, Chairman of the Investment Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Aibol Argyngazynov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of JSC "NC "KAZAKH INVEST," as well as representatives of the Mangystau and Zhetisu regions.

During the visit, meetings were held with the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, the Ministry of Economy, the Oman Investment Authority, Invest Oman, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as with a number of major companies. The delegation also visited the Sohar Free Zone to explore its infrastructure and logistics potential.

The central item on the agenda was the discussion of a draft Agreement on the Promotion and Protection of Investments between Kazakhstan and Oman. Ospankulov noted that the agreement would strengthen legal guarantees for investors, enhance the protection of capital investments, and serve as a foundation for boosting bilateral economic relations. Around 70% of the document’s text has already been agreed upon, and both sides confirmed their intention to expedite the finalization of the remaining provisions. In addition to the legal framework, specific areas of cooperation were also discussed.

Summing up the meetings, Gabidulla Ospanqulov emphasized the strategic nature of relations between Kazakhstan and Oman and highlighted the importance of moving toward the practical implementation of joint initiatives.

“Kazakhstan views Oman as one of its promising partners in the region. Signing the investment protection agreement and launching joint industrial projects will provide a new impetus for bilateral relations. We are ready to provide comprehensive support to Omani investors and actively promote Omani capital in key sectors of Kazakhstan’s economy,” he stated.

Negotiations between Kazakhstan and Oman will continue in the near future in the format of additional consultations at the level of relevant ministries.
